Tailwheel Endorsement

Flying a tailwheel or conventional gear airplane is not necessarily more difficult than a tricycle aircraft, but they will not forgive mistakes and sloppy technique like their nose wheeled counterparts will. Not only will learning to fly tail draggers open up a world of aircraft for you to fly, it will make you a better pilot – especially when it comes to landing (sometimes the only facet passengers judge our skill by) regardless of the aircraft you normally fly.

The course typically takes 3-10hrs and covers

• Conventional vs. Tricycle Gear Theory
• Ground/Taxi Operations
• Normal Takeoff and Landing
• Crosswind Takeoff and Landing
• Wheel Landings
• Short/Soft Field Takeoff and Landings

Unusual Attitudes / Spin Training

There are many benefits to receiving unusual attitude and spin training. By exploring the far reaches of the aircraft performance envelope we can be better prepared for the unexpected ‘upset’ in flight.

The Spin training course will cover: 1-3hrs (tailored to student needs)

• Unusual Attitude theory/aerodynamics
• Unusual Attitude recovery
• Stall/spin aerodynamics
• Stall/spin warning signs
• Aspects of stall/spin entry
• Upright spins
• Inverted spins
• Normal and accelerated spins
• Emergency spin recovery technique

Aerobatics

Tired of seeing the world right side up? Come experience the world of loops, rolls, spins and inverted flight. Aerobatics are a great way to increase your stick and rudder skills, challenge yourself and have fun.

We can customize your course for those interested in only ‘light positive G’ maneuvers, or explore all the maneuvers in an intermediate sequence including outside negative G fun.

Basic Course: 5hrs, Introduce basic maneuvers.

• Stalls, Aileron Rolls
• Slow Rolls, Inverted flight
• Loops, Half Loops
• Immelmann
• Spins

Basic Course: 10hrs, Introduce and practice proficiency in most maneuvers.

• Stalls, Aileron Roll
• Slow Rolls, Inverted Flight
• Loops, Half Loops
• Immelmann, Half Cuban Eight
• Recovery from Incomplete Maneuvers, Spins
• Hammerhead
• Outside Maneuvers

Discovery Flights

Interested in the joy and freedom of flying an airplane? Come take an introductory flight with us. We can tailor the flight to your interest; take a scenic tour of the mountains, a mini flying lesson, or a wild ride where you’re the ‘fighter pilot’.

You’ll fly in a beautiful new airplane of classic design. Your instructor is a commercial pilot with over 12 years and thousands of hours flying experience. Gift certificates available.

Mountain Flying Course

Flying in the mountains can be a fun and rewarding experience, however mountain operations are different than other types of flying. It is important you are aware of these differences in order to handle them effectively and safely.

• Rules of Mountain Flying
• Aircraft Performance
• Mountain Weather
• Cross Country Flight Planning and Considerations
• Putting it all together – Staying out of Trouble

The Basic Mountain Course includes at least 2-5 hours of ground school covering various topics pertinent to flying safely in the mountains, and 2-3 hours of flight training, including a mountain cross country flight to a high altitude airport. This course can also be combined with your BFR and tailwheel endorsement.
